Wind City - Milwalkee

I was in Chicago for an evening and stayed at a hotel that was formally the House of Blues Hotel.  I saw Harry Carry’s and thought about Wha’s trip and how he told this wonderful story of Chicago and all of the fun he had.  Wha probably looked into it before he went and knew all the hot spots to go to.  Man, did I feel like a Jackass.  If I had had more time there I would have potentially robbed myself of an exquisite time and you guys of a good story.  Fortunately, I was there for the evening, and did not have time to build any regrets.

We ate at Smith and Wolenky’s and I had the best steak ever.  My room was like something from a 1940’s jazz porno flick.  I had this huge king sized bed.  On the wall to the left of it was a mirror the size of the wall.  Any sex with this mirror in the room would have become kinky porno sex.  I stood there with my jaw open as I looked at the snake skin chair, the bed, the mirror, the view, and I thought, “I’m underdressed for my room.”  I took a picture with my camera phone.  Someday, I’ll figure out how to transfer it to a CPU and the web.

The rest of the trip involves light fixtures and work.  We went to Focal Point, Kennall, and SPI lighting, and I learned a lot about which fixtures work well in which applications.  You don’t care and I’m not talking about work on this page.  We did travel from Chicago, Illinois to Milwaukee WisconsinLake Michigan was a nice site.

I will say the 1.5 hour drive home from 12:30 to 2 was exhilarating.  I took the new 540 highway to 264/64 and saved about 30 minutes.  That’s gold when you’re driving that late at night.

Sincerely,

Lawtonious Funk

This further inforces my beliefs that a yearly trip must happen. I know some of us got together for Boston for the BC game last year. Some folks were kicking around Chicago this year, without the ball game. Cubs tickets won't be had at this point though. There will be no factory tours though.
