9/11 - ABC Docudrama

Well,

I have watched the first part of the ABC 9/11 docudrama, and it is great.  It really showed how playing politics at the wrong time screwed us.  The Clinton administration went after Osama twice . . . and wussed out both times.  That does not entirely surprise me, though.

The first time we had ground forces ready to storm his compound, but no one (big wig manager types) wanted to take responsibility if it did not work.  In my current position as Fall-Out Engineer, I can easily see how upper management wants results without responsibility and will take full credit for a job well done.  Sure, that’s stereotypical business jargon, but damn if it doesn’t happen to me once a week.

The second time we had to warn Pakistan that we were sending a missile over their country.  We told them too early, and Osama was warned just in time.  Clinton said he didn’t want to start a nuclear war because of a misinterpretation of a missile going over Pakistan’s soil.  I can’t say I blame him.

Tomorrow, I’ll post my opinion of the second half of the show.  Today’s final thought:

We’ve been at war for 15 years.  The American public found out five years ago today.

God bless America,
