A few years ago MTV had this show called fanatic. Fans of bands/people would try to get to meet the band. Well, I think that their friends tried to get them to meet the bands or something. Anyway, that’s not the point.
I was watching Fanatic a guy was talking about how he was a giant “Sugar Ray” fan. He was talking about how much their music meant to them and said something to the extent of, “Sugar Ray saved my life.”
Okay, I can’t get behind that. This guy is out of his freakin’ mind. Sugar Ray!?!?! I can understand someone saying, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Lynyrd Skynyrd . . . but Sugar Ray? “Put your arms around me baby” doesn’t exactly speak to my soul.
Even the Bobs in Office Space saying it doesn’t get better when Michael Bolton sings “When a Man Loves a Woman” have more musical depth than this guy. I’d never say Aerosmith changed my life . . . they made me want to get laid, but they didn’t embark some profound knowledge or understanding that would tip the axis that is my world. All I’m saying is, if someone came up to me and said, “Lost on Tuesday changed my whole life,” I would be scared of them. If someone came up and said, “I got piss drunk and watched the Kentucky Fried Movie after hearing LT play Big Jim Slade,” I would be honored.
Sincerely,
Lawtonious “Lost on Tuesday Changed My Life” Funk

Personally I think that it would be hilarious to form a LOT tribute band. Yeah, they were that good.
